Encouraging Competition, Cultivating Community

What We Do

BGTA organizes free, co-ed, and age-inclusive flag football competitions open to the entire community. While BGPR provides the fields, we handle the rest—including the ball, field markings, and flags. All you need to bring is yourself, a friend, and a competitive spirit!

When and Where

Game locations can vary based on BGPR availability, however, games will typically be held at Lovers Lane Soccer Complex, fields 9 and 10, behind the restrooms in the back of the park.Events will be scheduled every other Saturday from March 7th through August 8th. Field will be set up by 3pm and will begin being picked up by 6pm.

How we play

Field Dimensions & Gameplay

Our fields are 70 yards long (including end zones) and 30 yards wide.
*First Downs: There is only one first down available per drive, located at the midfield 25-yard line.
*No-Run Zones: Located within 5 yards of each end zone and the midfield line-to-gain. If a play begins inside this zone, the offense must use a forward pass to progress.

Possession and Scoring

*Starting Play: There are no kickoffs. The receiving team starts their drive at their own 5-yard line.
*4th Down Options: Go for it- If not converted, the opposing team takes over at the current spot.
*Punt: The opposing team starts at their own 5-yard line.
*Extra Points: After a touchdown, the offense can choose:
1 Point: Attempted from the 5-yard line.
2 Points: Attempted from the 10-yard line (Note: No-Run Zone rules apply).

General Rules

*Catches: Must have control and one foot in bounds.
*Downing the Ball: If a ball-carrier falls, they are considered down. The ball is spotted where the flag hits the ground.
*Turnovers: Interceptions and fumbles can be returned.
*Contact: Blocking is allowed, but excessive force is prohibited. Players will receive one warning before a one-game suspension.
*Officiating: We use a "common sense and consensus" system. If players cannot agree on a call, replay the down.
*Games consist of two 15-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime.

Bio

On any given weekend night, an adult in Warren County with a sudden urge to hoop can easily find a game at Kereiakes Park. Those looking for a tennis or pickleball match can find competition almost any day at Buchanan or Roland Bland. But the former high school star—now 28 and just looking to toe the sideline and 'Gronk spike' the pigskin in the end zone one more time—is often left to their own imagination for lack of organized competition and equipment. That’s where we come in. We handle the setup, provide the gear, and coordinate with the Parks Department. We do the heavy lifting and the advertising to ensure a steady turnout. All you need to do is lace up your cleats (not required), stretch that hamstring (highly recommended), and show up on time with a winning attitude.

Culture & Growth

None of us at the Touchdown Alliance are perfect. At our events, you will undoubtedly hear some 'spirited bursts of competitive vocabulary.' However, we truly aspire for these games to be family-friendly. We bring our own families to watch and play alongside us, and we encourage you to do the same.We are all here for healthy competition. By keeping things 'PG-13(ish),' we can grow this community large enough to organize formal tournaments and multiple seasons throughout the year. Our goal is to expand our circle and connect with more friends through the game—moving beyond the screen and onto the field.

Point of contact

The best place to reach us with questions, comments, or concerns is via our Facebook page (linked below). However, if you’re at an event and looking for the person in charge, keep an eye out for the ruggedly handsome, mustachioed gentleman pictured above. That’s Kelly, and he loves Jesus, his family, America, and football—in that exact order.
